Important:
The currently available technical information does not specify the brass alloy grade, stem material, gate material, packing material or detailed internal construction. These parameters should be confirmed if they are required for a specific project.

3. How Does a Brass Gate Valve Work?

A gate valve controls flow by moving an internal gate vertically through the flow passage.

Turn the Handwheel

Rotating the handwheel operates the stem and moves the internal gate.

Gate Opens

As the gate moves away from the flow passage, the valve opens and allows the medium to pass through.

Gate Closes

Turning the handwheel in the opposite direction moves the gate back into the flow path.

Pipeline Isolated

In the fully closed position, the gate restricts flow through the valve.

4. Gate Valve for Isolation Service

Gate valves are primarily selected for fully open or fully closed isolation service.

When fully open, the gate is moved away from the main flow path. When fully closed, it isolates the downstream section of the piping system.

A gate valve should not automatically be treated as a precision throttling valve. If continuous flow regulation is required, valve type should be selected according to the actual control requirement.

5. Female × Female Threaded Ends

This model uses female threaded connections on both ends.

Both connections are designed to mate with compatible male-threaded piping or fittings.

For replacement and OEM orders, both nominal size and thread standard should be confirmed rather than specifying only the valve size.

6. ISO 228 / BSPP Parallel Thread

The current factory specification identifies the thread standard as ISO 228.

ISO 228 specifies parallel pipe threads used for mechanical assembly of valves, fittings and related piping components.

In international valve and plumbing markets, this connection is commonly referred to as a BSPP or G parallel thread.

Connection Tip:
ISO 228 parallel threads should not be confused with BSPT or NPT tapered pipe threads. Always confirm the exact connection standard before purchasing replacement valves.

7. Available Sizes

The current technical specification confirms the following nominal valve sizes:

Nominal Size Connection Thread Standard
1/2″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP
3/4″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP
1″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP
1-1/4″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP
1-1/2″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP
2″ Female × Female ISO 228 / BSPP

8. Working Pressure and Temperature

The current technical specification lists a normal pressure of:

1.6 MPa / 16 bar

The specified working temperature range is:

-20°C to 150°C

Final valve selection should consider pressure, temperature and working medium together rather than evaluating pressure rating alone.

9. Working Media

The current technical information identifies the valve for:

  • Water
  • Compatible non-corrosive liquids
If the valve will be used with another liquid, confirm chemical compatibility, temperature, pressure and internal component requirements before ordering.

10. Typical Applications

Female-threaded brass gate valves are commonly selected for manual isolation in compatible water and general liquid piping systems.

01
Water Supply
02
Building Plumbing
03
Pipeline Isolation
04
General Liquid Systems

11. Installation Considerations

Before installation, confirm:

  • Correct nominal valve size
  • ISO 228 / BSPP thread compatibility
  • Working pressure
  • Working temperature
  • Fluid compatibility
  • Required sealing method for the threaded connection
  • Adequate space for handwheel operation

Piping should be correctly aligned during installation to avoid unnecessary mechanical stress on the valve body.

12. What Should Buyers Confirm Before Ordering?

Brass gate valves with similar external appearance can still have different materials and internal specifications.

Before comparing quotations, confirm:

  • Valve size
  • ISO 228 / BSPP thread requirement
  • 1.6 MPa working requirement
  • Working temperature
  • Working medium
  • Required brass alloy, if specified
  • Internal component requirements
  • Valve dimensions
  • Logo and body marking
  • Packaging requirements
  • Order quantity

13. OEM and Custom Brass Gate Valve Options

SUNRICH FLOW supports OEM and customized brass valve projects for importers, distributors and private-label customers.

Depending on project requirements, customization can be evaluated based on:

  • Technical drawings
  • Existing physical samples
  • Required dimensions
  • Thread requirements
  • Material specifications
  • Valve body marking
  • Handwheel requirements
